Our gigs started with a simple concept: a small, accurate, affordable display model.
We started by meticulously recreating the gig in 3D using Blender. This process took a few months of constant refinement and revision. We printed a few test pieces and prototypes before settling on the design you can buy now.
Once we were happy with the digital design we started 3D printing them out of plant based UV resin. It takes about 9 hours to print 4 gigs!
After cleaning and post curing, we remove the supports and give the model a quick sand to remove the remnants of the support material.
We then prime the model with a spray on plastic primer to even out the colour and help the final coats of paint stick better.
We then hand paint the colours of the particlar gig, making sure it's as accurate as possible. We use high quality model paints for this.
We then apply the custom printed WaterSlide decal for the nameplate and finish it off with a couple of coats of protective clear coat.
